Tawana e Matla Brand Kit
Illustrated Logo Design & Branding for Tawana e Matla, a celebration of the ancient rock art found in the rural Southern Free State, with the intention of creating a connection between the viewer and the history of Southern Africa’s first people.
They wanted their logo to make reference to the Eland, an animal that is deeply significant within San rock art, and often appears in the artworks. The stippled shapes around the Eland are inspired by the spiritual and trance-like imagery associated with the San rock art traditions and rituals.
For the colour palette, I drew from earthy moss, stone, and minerals tones found in the rock art paintings themselves.
